Re:payees
If you go to the Payees page, each payee has a trash can icon to the left of it and each payee is a link. If you click the trash can, this is what deletes the payee but you just click the link, it turns into an input box where you can change the name. This will update the name of all your Transactions with that same name to the new one you give it. If you enter the same name as an existing Payee, once you refresh the page, you'll see they have been combined on the Payees page. If you need to update individual transaction names by category, you can filter your transactions by category and then just update individual transactions.

payees
i didn't realise when i started that it was going to track all the payees i've put in. so i have a huge list of payees, some are doubles just because i'm too lazy to use caps but my husband did.
so today i went in to streamline them and clean it up but it warned me it would delete all the transactions associated with that name!

i'd actually like to not add/list a payee, if we're buying groceries i just want to select the category, now we have the names of half a dozen different grocery stores in our list. so i started calling it 'food' which is esentially a category name.
