Re:cash flow and budget
Okay, so when I have money $300 allocated for say "Household" in my monthly budget (I have this set up as a bill), I'll enter partial payments against this until it is used up. I get that. Let's say in the middle of the month, I have used up $150 in partial payments. I have $150.00 left in my bill for the month. Shouldn't the transaction forecast show all my partial transactions assigned to Household, as well as the $150.00 still left in "Household"? This is the part that is confusing me. My forecast is still getting thrown off if it doesn't take into consideration what I have left in the bill.

Re:cash flow and budget
If you're going to be entering partial payments, then you wont want to use the automatic payment feature since this will also record a new transaction of the full amount on the day it's due.

Re:cash flow and budget
Okay. Thank you. Can you please let me know how this would work if I were to have this amount automatically entered into the transaction register on the date that it is due? Or is it even possible to have it automatically entered into my transaction register and still be able to make partial payments until it is used up?

Re:cash flow and budget
The reason it shows up twice is that it needs to be recorded on the My Bills page. What you can do is go to My Bills and click the "Record" link next to the bill, then click "Pay with existing Transaction". From there you can create partial bill payments until it is used up. In the future, if you start from the My Bills page when entering your transaction, you can just click the "Record" link to record you new transaction against that bill.

cash flow and budget
Can someone please let me understand how the budget ties into my cash flow forecast? Here is my example. I have set up a budget for household expenses- 350 a month. It is set up as a bill and the category I am using is "Household", the due date is 2/2/11 and it is not set up automatically to go into my transactions. When I make expenses for my household, I will enter my transactions and set the category to "household" in which it then automatically pulls from my budget which is great. My problem is when I go to check my cash flow forecast, it shows the initial (-350) a month set aside for my household expenses, plus all the individual transactions I did against the household. This is giving me a false cash flow forecast. The household expenses are being counted for twice, once with the overall budgeted amount, and the second with the actual transactions that are to be expensed against that budget. Shouldn't it show the individual transactions assigned to household budget and the difference between the budgeted amount and the individual transactions? Sorry this is so long, maybe I am doing something wrong.
