We've revisited an older request and added the ability to receive an Inbox Notification when a new reply is added to a Message Board topic that you created. The message will contain a link to the topic thread.
We've added a new application to the Beta Applications page titled "Rebates" to allow you to keep track of the Expired Date of any rebates you have. To access, click Beta Applications from the Navigation menu and add it to your list of applications.
We've added a new theme to the dropdown in the upper right corner titled "Kids/Basic". This gives you a very basic and simplistic way to track your budget and transactions. The first thing you'll notice is to enter transactions, you instead select the "Action" dropdown and choose "I spent money" or "I made money". Most fields are then automatically entered in for the user so you only need the Payee, Amount, and Category. This is however still tied to your standard account so if you would like to further customize the options, you can switch back to the Simple or Advanced theme.
If you're a parent and would lke to get your child started, first create a new account for them and then switch to "Kids/Basic". The first screen you'll then see is the setup wizard where you can start entering in common child budget amounts from pre-defined categories or switch templates to "Custom" if you'd like to add your own. You'll also see Chores from the Actions menu to allow you child to keep track of if they took out the Garbage or not. If you have ideas on how we can improve this to make it easy for Kids to track their budget, please email us at service@budgettracker.com.
You now have the ability to import your contacts from Outlook, Google Contacts, or Mac. To do so, export your contacts to a vCard and follow the Import Contacts link on the My Contacts page.
We've added in the ability to enter in your Gallons and Odometer reading when entering transactions from your mobile phone. To access, create a new transaction and click the Add Mileage link. Make sure you select the category that is associated with your mileage on the Gas Mileage page which can be found under Financial in the Advanced menu navigation.
You now have the ability to customize the background color of your transactions. By default, all transactions are color coded blue=past, red=today, white=future. If you select a color when updating a transaction, that color will get used instead of the default.
We've added a Site Map link to the bottom of each to allow you to view all links on the site at anytime without having to change your navigation menu. This is useful for when users go into Simple mode. The navigation menu is a minimal set of links so you can now still access any link on the site yet stay in simple mode.
We've added a few starting templates to the Budgeting Wizard which include "College", "Kids", and "Envelope System". If you go to My Budget and click the goto... dropdown, choose Budgeting Wizard. From there you'll see a template dropdown where you can choose which type of user you are to narrow down available categories. In a future release we'll also be adding in some Accounting Templates to the list.
When creating a new transfer, you now have the ability to associate a fee with that transfer. This is most commonly used when recording an ATM withdrawal as a transfer from Checking to Cash since Cash is recorded in BudgetTracker as a separate account. On the Transfer page, you will now see a Fee checkbox. When checked, you can enter the amount of the fee and the category this fee belongs to. Once saved, your withdrawal transfer will get recorded as a split transaction between the amount withdrawn and the fee. The deposit will record the total transferred minus the fee.
